MRSE TTX - Operational Medical Directors Exercise

NVERS would like to invite the region's EMS Medical Directors to participate in a tabletop exercise as a component of the annual Medical Response and Surge Exercise (MRSE) on April 17, 2025 from 10am to 12:30pm in Fairfax County. Specific address details will be sent once registration is completed. 

 

The MRSE is a healthcare coalition exercise that tests both the hospitals and the RHCC's ability to manage a catastrophic regional surge. Primarily, the exercise tests operational coordination, information sharing, and resource management. 

 

This year, the exercise scenario will be built on the joint Department of Defense and Department of Health and Human Services National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) Pilot Project. The pilot project is a five (5)-year effort centered on use of the NDMS to bring wounded service members back to the U.S. during a hypothetical large-scale future war. 

 

This scenario is unique, and would undoubtedly have major impacts on the region's EMS providers. The tabletop component of the MRSE will center on the re-triage and transport issues that would arise from the arrival of several hundred wounded service members to the region with low-notice and limited federal support.
