On March 22, 2021, a lone gunman opened fire at the King Soopers supermarket in Boulder, CO. While police arrived on scene within two minutes of the initial 9-1-1 call, the gunman shot and killed ten individuals- including one of the first arriving officers. In this continuation of the NVERS Speaker Series, instructors from the FBI National Academy will review the King Soopers shooting as a case study in crisis communication strategies and tactics. The presentation will feature debriefing information from the involved PIO's, communication priorities throughout the incident response and recovery, and transferable best practices to assist localities in planning for effective crisis messaging when confronted with an active violence incident.

This presentation is open to public safety and emergency management agencies in Virginia and the National Capital Region. Please RSVP below; you will receive a separate email confirmation with the webinar/conferencing details from NVERS staff.
