The NOVA EM T&E Working Group will host a pilot offering of the regionally-developed controller/Evaluator Course.
Course Description: The Controller and Evaluator Training is a 2.5-hour course designed to help those who may not have had any formal training in how to effectively serve as a controller or evaluator for an exercise. This course will guide personnel in how to be effective exercise controllers and evaluators for discussion based and operational based exercises according to Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program standards.
Course Objectives:
- Define the roles and responsibilities of an exercise evaluator and an exercise controller.
- Understand the use of tools necessary for successful exercise evaluation and effective exercise control.
- Identify the necessary tasks in conducting an exercise evaluation and exercise control.
- Demonstrate how to complete the appropriate documentation including data collection, analysis, and recommendations.
- Understand the difference in data collection in a discussion-based exercise vs an operational-based exercise.
- Comprehend how to function as part of the Exercise Evaluation Team.
