This week, the NVERS Steering Committee held their monthly meeting in Fairfax and the critical points from the discussion include:

-The Committee was briefed on an updated Doxycycline and Ciprofloxacin regional cache recommendation from the Pharmaceutical and Medical Supply working group, and was also informed of the current state of the northern Virginia Duodote cache.

-The Committee discussed the Operationalization of Plans project and examined findings from the initial Active Shooter scenario interviews. The next rounds of interviews for this project will focus on planning for a radiological incident and have begun and will continue through March.

-The CHAOS After Action Report was shared with the Steering Committee and consensus was reached on the edits and changes necessary before these recommended actions are finalized.

-The FY2014 UASI project submission process continues to move forward; the current project proposals are being reviewed by the NCR Emergency Managers and other appropriate committees and decisions will be made in May.

-NVERS is excited to welcome Sue Snider as the new Executive Director of the Northern Virginia Hospital Alliance.

Also this week, the Patient Tracking Working Group met Thursday, February 27, 2014. The second generation equipment will arrive in the region during March for set up. After extensive training, the new iPad trackers will be deployed throughout the region on all units. Meanwhile, the current trackers continue being used throughout the jurisdictions for daily Monday patients and special events.
