NVERS Hosts Advanced Burn Life Support Course
On January 24, 2025, NVERS hosted a regional offering of the Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) course, in partnership with the burn center at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. The course, attended by sixteen (16) frontline hospital staff and Fire/EMS responders, provides the "how-to" of emergency care of burn patients trough the first 24 hours following burn injuries.
The need for this course was identified by the EMS representatives serving on the NVERS Healthcare Coalition Training & Exercise Committee, and was met with strong interest from the NVERS stakeholders. Continuing education offerings such as ABLS, and other trainings on burn topics support regional preparedness to deal with a range of hazards including fires, explosions, and chemical and radiological incidents.
