GMU Explosive Detection Canine Team Places Second in Iron Dog Competition
Congratulations Lucy and John!
NVERS is proud to announce that the Explosive Detection Canine team from George Mason University, Lucy (canine) and John (handler), took second place in the 14th Annual Iron Dog Competition, held Wed, October 14, 2015 in Harrisonburg, VA. Their second place award came in vehicle searches, but also placed third in both the scent wall and building searches.
The Explosive Detection Canine Project was managed by NVERS and was designed to increase the presence of highly trained explosive ordnance detection canine teams in the Region by adding five fully trained and equipped canines for use by handlers in Northern Virginia. The increased availability of explosive detection canine teams provide an important resource at special events, as well as increased protection of physical assets in the NCR through existing mutual aid agreements.
