The 2025 Spring Northern Virginia Command Officer Training will include topics addressing:

  • Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) Training. (Battalion Chief Brandon Frieder / Captain Nicholas Krukowski)
  • A presentation on the changes to the NOVA Responses to Flammable and Combustible Liquids Emergencies Manual that was released in February of 2025, and considerations that need to be present when these types of incidents are encountered, including apparatus resources and specialized extinguishing agents and the usage of them. (Deputy Chief Jason Graber)
  • A review of the July 2024 HazMat with MCI at the Cuisine Solutions facility in Sterling, VA.  Discussion of operational standpoints, building out the incident command structure, and overall mitigation of the incident. (Battalion Chief Dan Shealy)
  • A demonstration of the latest patient tracking recommendations during a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI), along with a brief overview of the current progress made by the MCI and Patient Tracking Work Groups in revising their manuals. (Captain Nicole Artisst)
