This training will include the following:
- Planning Process - how to select and organize people who will make for a successful planning process, garner public support for mitigation planning, incorporate hazard mitigation principles into existing plans, and document efforts throughout the planning process.
- Conducting a Risk Assessment - explores a thorough process for conducting risk assessments highlighting how to optimize use of limited resources and how your risk assessment informs decision-making about mitigation actions, prioritization of action implementation.
- Developing a Mitigation Strategy - how to develop mitigation goals and objectives, effectively identify and evaluate mitigation actions, and formulate implementation plans to increase community resilience.
- Adopting, Maintaining, & Implementing the Plan - an overview of the Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) adoption, maintenance, and implementation processes, while also illustrating how a maintaining and implementing a HMP helps to reduce risk and improve resiliency.
Target Audience: Local government and state agency personnel, with roles and responsibilities
related to disaster recovery and contracting.
